Yesterday night, we started the Skills Program aimed to challenge our long-time students & teach them skills on the flying trapeze, not just flying. By the end of all this, they should all be able to do everything from working the board to sending return bars as well as throw various skills in the air including front & back uprises, hip circles, one- & two handed release skills, bar mounts, reverse suicides...

Among them, Maryam W. & Emma S. were tackling their turn arounds. Galit E., Marisa B., Elena G. & Allegra G. were taking on their front end uprises. And, Renee F. found out the difficulties of the straddle cut/catch.

We had some successes! Elena G. not only got her F/E Uprise but also found her Back Hip circle which lead into her Shoot! Galit E. dusted off her Planche Turn Around much to the disapproval of her elbow.

The students are keen on their developments. One said, "We haven't learned anything really new in so long." That's true. For the past few months, we've been honing their catch & return skills, getting back the board (round trips) & their swings. Another student said, "I feel a whole bunch of failures." But, remember the adages: "Rome wasn't built in a day." And, "you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet." Stick with it, everyone. Once again, this is only the beginning...!
